Splashbacks, floors, walls,
More often than not, when reforming an
older Spanish property (or sometimes not so old!) is that
the tiles have been hung using butting method. The benefit
is to the builder, as it is less time consuming and cheaper
on materials.
The problem with this method is that with
our climate here in Andalucia, where we have high temperatures,
high humidity and seasonal variations of these, surfaces
expand and contract accordingly. This causes the tiles
to lift away from the concrete base they were put on.
This impacts on: hygiene, aesthetics and
of course property value.
Pueblo Interiors Solution
Other than marble tiles we use a series
of spacers to compensate for this.
This takes a little extra time but the
long term advantages are that the tiles stay in place.
